In 1942, a Royal Air Force plane is shot down over Nazi-occupied Paris. The three pilots parachute out: Peter Cunningham lands on the scaffolding of Augustin Bouvet, a construction painter working on the facade of the German command; Alan Macintosh lands on the roof of the Opera House during the orchestra's rehearsal, conducted by Stanislas LeFort; and Sir Reginald dives into the seal tank at the Vincennes Zoo. While the German police search for them, Stanislas and Augustin take charge of the English, embarking on extraordinary adventures to lead them to the free zone.
